Had a little fun the other day taken the Spot Rallye for its first ride as I made adjustments and worked on dialing in the fit. Roads were a bit snow covered in Harriman State Park...

MPF Athlete Evan Fineman had registered for this race as a tune up, gear check, and leg check for his upcoming Vermont 50 MTB race in 2 weeks. The distance was the same but that’s where the similarities ended…

We spent the time checking out some new mountain bike trails in Sterling Forest, NY which were great, and then made our way over to Ringwood State Park, NJ where more trails were just taken shape.

Evan went back to the Vermont 50 mountain bike race for the 3rd straight year, looking for a podium finish... 

I went to the VT 50 with the plan to ride it for the 3rd year in a row but with minimal time spent on the bike this year and a lot more time on my feet instead (should of switched to the run...), I decided to experience the event from a different perspective. 

I was tempted to not do a write up as I felt that the disappointment that I had at my race result (and season so far) would be a big drag and all negative. But I think these write ups help me race and could be cathartic moving forward.

This was Evan's 2nd year in a row riding the VT 50 and it is quickly becoming his favorite race of the season. Evan took almost 30 minutes off his time from the previous year and did so just using 1 gear. 

"The last time I raced the Bearscat 50 in Wawayanda I swore I wouldn't go back. I finished that race two years ago in about 6:55 or so. As you all know the memory of the pain you experience fades with time."

I just got my upgrade approved Monday to Cat 3. So I wasted no time in trying a 123 race. I hit up the Augusta Training Series A race tonight. And I was DFL.

Today’s outing wasn’t on foot but on the wheels of my mountain bike. The plan was to ride familiar and new trails at Lewis Morris Park. I’m not an avid rider but I like trading in my trail shoes for my mountain bike...

So I went out to Augusta Tuesday to race the B Race for what might be my last time as I now have enough upgrade points to travel up...and this was also my first roadie race of the year.

This was day 2 of Evan's 2015 cycling training camp. We took our mountain bikes to the MPF Spring Classic Route to check on some of the road conditions.

My EPIC weekend (yes it qualifies) started on Saturday night as I left my house for Vermont at around 7:45 pm.  I rolled up to the hotel at around midnight.  I “slept” till around 4 am and then headed for the race.

About 100 of my closest race results opponents and I lined up for a chilly start in the Cat 3/4 race; the last of the spring series. Mike Prokopec and Chris Chapman teamed up for the fun...

This race win was all about knowing the course and sticking to the plan.  From the start I knew that the Bike Dr. rider who won the last two weeks would be out for blood. He's been looking to take the series and needed more points to take the win. Out of the first 4 races in the series I've raced 2, and took 2nd and 1st. So he needed more points to guarantee his lead.

After a long hiatus, CRCA was able to regain access to Orchard Beach as a race venue during the 2012 season, returning the Orchard Beach Criterum and its long history to the CRCA calendar.
