When Ryan Welts from New Hampshire joined the MPF RNR trail running team I immediately thought it would be great if he led the next team adventure. I messaged him and he graciously accepted the task! We came up with a date, gear requirements, etc. and soon the trip became a reality and we were off to adventure on the 16 mile traverse of the Franconia Ridge.

Today we scouted out the Breakneck Point Trail Marathon and 25k course in the Hudson Highlands State Park, NY. Julian and I wanted to see if it would be feasible for the MPF RNR Trail Team to do the marathon course this weekend but we knew that the conditions were going to be tough and slow going.
MPF 4th Annual Catskills Slide Mountain Wilderness Adventure “Same Trail, Different Day”
As we embarked on our 4th annual winter adventure in the Catskills of New York, the trail conditions were relatively unknown. Each year the Slide Mountain Wilderness area has offered us something different, some years the trails have been covered in thick sheets of ice, other years snow but never deep enough to warrant snowshoes 100% of the time. This year was a whole different story….

10:00 am Friday morning, August 15, 2014, I began a 120 mile foot race in the mountains of British Columbia. The race had close to 29,000 ft of climbing, unknown terrain, I had no crew, 1 pacer and 9 drop bags...
Elizabeth Azze's Race Report from the 2014 MMT 100 Mile Run "Tough decision but best decision"
The days leading up to the race the area suffered intense rain storms, the roads, rivers and streams were flooded. For some reason I didn’t think much about the trail conditions while driving on the winding road towards the start. I should of known better when we were following a truck plowing the road of debris and mud but I was overwhelmed by the vibrant colors of green, the wild flowers, and the sounds of the flowing water. Everything felt alive, begging for adventure...

When I heard about the Rock the Ridge 50 early last year I was torn, I wanted to support this local race but we along with our athletes have been a part of The North Face Bear Mountain races since its inception in 2008, not to mention both of the races were being held on the same day...
Race Report: 2013 Wasatch 100 Mile Endurance Run by Elizabeth Azze
People often ask me why I run ultras or why I prefer the 100 mile distance? There are several reasons why, one is the feeling I have right now while sitting in my living room in NY, the memories of the amazing people I met, the 100 miles of endless beauty I got to see.
Pre 2013 Wasatch 100 thoughts: "Just hours away from a 5,000 foot climb to start with..." By Elizabeth Azze
My 2nd battle against altitude started 3 years ago and the war is still officially in progress! After my DNF at the Wasatch 100 mile race in 2010 (at mile 82 or so after Brighton AS, from major illness), I took some much needed time off to reflect, heal and improve myself. At the beginning of 2013, I began to feel rested...

Elizabeth Azze's 2013 Mt. Tammany 10 Race Report
A hearty group of runners gathered at the base of a looming giant that would later challenge our heart, will and desire in epic proportions. I’m not saying its Mt. Denali or Everest but the terrain would challenge our ability to move forward as we chased the 10 hour cut off in Everest proportions.

Elizabeth Azze's 2012 The North Face 50 Mile Race Report "The Pain in Gain"
In past years the North Face 50 has been a goal race for me but not this year, typically I do not use races as training but since this was in my backyard I said what the heck. I showed up tired and without a taper trying to keep my eye on the bigger picture of my season.

Elizabeth's 2011 Running with the Devil Race Report
In the midst of a record breaking heat wave, 100 plus participants decided to embark on a journey that made them wonder if indeed the devil had taken over their minds and bodies. I mean really their aren’t many people who participate in a race where the day time high was projected to be in the high 90’s to 100º with the northeast humidity added in of course.
