Woodland Loop in the Slide Mountain Wilderness

Ever since we entered phase 2 of the stay at home order our compass has been pointed straight to the rugged Catskill Park Forest Preserve. The terrain of this area challenges your technical hiking and running ability to the highest degree. You really feel like you’re climbing your way through the earth to attain your reward of a beautiful sweeping view.

The adventure of the day was the classic Woodland loop starting at the Woodland Valley Campground trailhead. The loop consists of Wittenberg, Cornell and Slide mountain all which stand at or above 3,500 feet. Part of this loop is also part of the CatsTail Trail Marathon
